Moar in the Egg round (path 2)

Hike on the northern slope of the Wölzertal with a wonderful view of the Wölzertal and the Wölzer Tauern.
A worthwhile circular route, but with around 280 hm ascent and 280 hm descent, it requires a bit of fitness. However, you are traveling for long stretches in the shady forest.

More information

Coming from Judenburg via Unzmarkt to Scheifling. Turn right here towards Murau. In Niederwölz turn right to Oberwölz.

Coming from Murau via Teufenbach to Niederwölz. Turn left here towards Oberwölz.

Coming from Tamsweg via Ranten, drive to St. Peter am Kammersberg and via Pöllau am Greim to Oberwölz.

From the information center opposite the town parish church, follow the signs to the leisure center (note: turn left in the Hintereggertor, along the town wall!).

Continue towards the sports field. Directly behind the training area you enter the area of the high ropes course. Keep right in the climb area. Via the botanical nature trail you reach a forest road, which you follow to the right. Before leaving the forest, turn left onto a path that forks after about 30 m.

Follow the signs “Moar im Egg – Runde”. After the “Maierhäusl” you continue straight ahead and after a few meters you will see a small meadow. Before entering, you have to keep left and follow a slightly ascending path into the forest. You soon reach the GH Kammersberger, cross the state road and follow a forest path to the west. After a few minutes, another forest path branches off to the left, which you follow further up the mountain. When you leave the forest you enter a meadow. Now you can see the “Moar im Egg” farm in the distance, which you can reach by first following the meadow path and later the access road. You walk through the property and come back to a forest. Keep left at the first fork and after a short stretch leave the forest path to the left (marked). Before leaving the forest, you enter a forest path again, which turns into a meadow path and leads to the “Gmeiner” farm. From there you can already see the municipal road. You have reached Hinterburg.

In the direction of Oberwölz you first follow the municipal road. After about 1 km turn right into the forest (marked). Shortly afterwards the hiking trail leads steeply downhill. A minimum level of surefootedness is required here. The valley floor can be reached in the area of the high ropes course, from where you can go back to the starting point. The bathroom restaurant invites you to refresh yourself.
