HWW-Hiking route: Friedberg - Hilmtor - Trahütte - Vorauer Schwaig - Hochwechsel
This HWW hiking route is part of the Wechselland Historical Long-Distance Hiking Trail (HWW), which tells the story of Wechselland along more than 100 HWW stations. More information can be found at www.wechsel-wandern.at.
This HWW hiking route runs from Friedberg via Hilmtor, Trahütte, Vorauer Schwaig to Hochwechsel. Along the route, you will pass the Hilmtor HWW station, for example. There you can learn about the history of hunting and wild animals in Wechselland. Every few years, individual wolves roam the Wechselland.

Directions - By car
- via the Südautobahn (A2) to the Pinggau exit
- at the traffic circle take the 3rd exit
- along the B54 in the direction of Graz/Hartberg
- along the Steinamangerer Straße
- turn left onto Hauptplatz Pinggau
- follow Grazer Straße until Hauptplatz Friedberg
The tour is not signposted throughout. Route guidance with app recommended.
- The HWW hiking route starts in Friedberg.
- It continues via the Hilmtor, to the Glatzl Trahütten Alm and on to the Vorauer Schwaig.
- The destination is the Hochwechsel.
We recommend stopping off at the Glatzl Trahütten Alm or at the Vorauer Schwaig with its magnificent views.
