The route from Passail in the Almenland Nature Park up to the Ochsenhalt below the Sommeralm is almost a mountain running route with its gradient, albeit largely on asphalt.

The Ochsenhalt above Passail is a real alpine pasture, even with a hut, although it is not managed. It is located directly on Mariazeller Weg 706 and is also often hiked from the Sommeralm. However, this loop leads from Passail via Gaasgraben and Hohenau up to the hut, then back via Kriechenlee, Gaulhof and the Hochweg. The upper third of the route is run on unpaved hiking trails, the rest on asphalt.

A running route for "pros", but also a very nice hike if you can put up with the asphalt paths.

There are virtually no refreshment stops along the route, so please take plenty of water and provisions with you.

Choose your running route carefully so that you can get home safely.
If you are running alone, let someone you trust know where you are running and when you want to be home.
Make sure you have good visibility (reflectors, safety vest) when running at dusk or at night.
Be careful and pay attention to other road users, especially when traveling on roads.
