The Wasserweg in Miesenbach in the Joglland - Waldheimat region is especially suitable for families to enjoy and discover along the streams and waters.
Pleasant enjoyable hiking for all age groups on almost level paths off the beaten track and without major differences in altitude await you on the water trail in Miesenbach. Along the circular trail there are many adventure and information points to discover, such as the smallest show power plant in Europe or the longest wooden footbridge in Joglland. Other stops are the Mäanderbach, the Kalvarienberg, remains of the mill "Hirazabauer", the popular excursion destination Hornschmiedmühle or the Märchenwalt.

A section of the trail - between the mill "Hornschmied" and the ice hut Wetzelberger - is also suitable for wheelchairs and strollers.

The municipality, which covers around fifteen square kilometers, lies on a gently rising terrace in the East Styrian mountain and hill country. The heavily wooded terrain rises from 781 meters above sea level to Wildwiesen at 1256 meters.

By car:
From Vienna: via the A2 to the Pinggau exit, then follow the B54 towards Hartberg to Rohrbach a. d. Lafnitz; continue via Riegersberg to Vorau to Miesenbach

From Graz: via the A2 to the Gleisdorf West exit; then follow the B64 towards Weiz; continue on the B72 via Nöstl and Birkfeld to Miesenbach

  • We start at the village square in Miesenbach at the village fountain
  • From the village fountain we walk past the Florianihof to the first achievement point: the wooden footbridge over the Määnderbach stream
  • We continue over the Calvary to a beautiful path next to the Miesenbach stream
  • After a walking time of about 30 minutes in the shady valley we come to the mill Hornschmied - visits possible
  • Mühle Hornschmied: May to October, Tuesday and Thursday from 14.00-17.00, Tel.: +43 3174 8320, advance booking requested
  • Now we continue along the brook to the "smallest show power station in Europe".
  • We continue our hike along the Miesenbach stream to the fairytale forest
  • From the fairy tale forest we walk along the longest wooden footbridge in Joglland to the municipal road.
  • After 1,5 - 2 hours we come back to our starting point
Especially on hot days, a hike along the Wasserweg is a welcome "cool down".
