HWW-Hiking route: Mönichkirchen - Schaueregg/Fichtenhof - Koglreith - Friedberg
This HWW hiking route is part of the Wechselland Historical Long-Distance Hiking Trail (HWW), which tells the story of Wechselland along more than 100 HWW stations. More information can be found at www.wechsel-wandern.at.
This HWW hiking route runs along an old cattle drive path from Mönichkirchen via Koglreith and Hofgraben to Friedberg. Along the HWW route, you pass the HWW station Friedberg/Erlebnisberg, where you can explore the history of the former castle (later double castle) Friedberg. The area was only archaeologically investigated in 2017/18, and the latest findings on the castle can be explored as part of the Friedberg Adventure Mountain.

Arrival by car
- Take the A2 highway to the Aspang-Markt / Mönichkirchen exit.
- After the exit, turn left onto the B54 towards Mönichkirchen.
- Follow the road for approx. 7 km until you reach Mönichkirchen.
The tour is not signposted throughout. Route guidance with app recommended.
- The tour starts in Mönichkirchen.
- Goes via Koglreith and Hofgraben.
- Along the route you pass the Friedberg adventure mountain.
We recommend enjoying the view on the adventure mountain and then treating yourself to a coffee and a delicious pastry in the beautiful guest gardens on the historic main square.
