Hike to the Lieglloch

Closed
In the Lieglloch the bear was loose: In the mysterious cave above the valley of Tauplitz stone-age relics were found - among others bones of bears. Today, however, the place is also popular because of the great view of the Grimming and Kulm. The cave is located north of the center of Tauplitz.
Secrets await you on this tour: High above the valley of Tauplitz at the foot of the Bergerwand lies the "Lieglloch", where Stone Age relics and cave bear bones have been found. Presumably, the 15 m wide and 10 m deep cave served as a shelter, hunting station and cult place.

More information

The journey to Tauplitz is best planned via www.google.at/maps
The start is in the center of Tauplitz. Follow trail no. 276 below the 4-seater chairlift to the Tauplitzalm until just below the middle station. Then turn left into the ascending trail with the number 15.

In front of the cave entrance there is a small bench where you can rest comfortably. Simply marvel at the cave and let your imagination run wild about what could have happened here in Stone Age days.

Return to the starting point by the same path. The hike is not very demanding and can also be done with children.

There is also a legend about the Lieglloch.

Instead of driving your car, why not simply leave your vehicle parked on the big parking lot in Tauplitz and make your own contribution to protecting the environment by riding the quad chairlift up the mountain.

From the train station Tauplitz it is about 20 minutes walk to the center of the village. The bus stop is located directly in the center.
