Circular hike with Pölstal view from Möderbrugg

This circular hike starting from Möderbrugg combines easy ascents and descents with tranquility, well-being, the possibility of swimming and a dreamlike place with a view.
If you travel by car from the Murtal valley in the direction of Hohentauern, you would not suspect that around Möderbrugg you will find a wonderful recreation and hiking area. The first part of the hike leads along the wide Pölstal valley floor, before you take a leisurely uphill walk along the Möderbach ditch. The hiking trail leads across pasture and forest areas to the scenic spot around the Schneeberg chapel. Above the chapel you will also find the time-honored Schneebergerhaus, a listed building. The original farmstead consisted of the residential house, a stable building and the chapel. Once you have discovered this place for yourself, you will find that you simply feel at home here. The tranquility combined with the view is addictive, as are the foam rolls from the Brandl bakery in town.

Conclusion: The good is often so close - you just have to hike it!

More information

From Judenburg via the B114 in the direction of Hohentauern (19 km, approx. 20 minutes).

From Trieben an der Pyhrn freeway A 9 via B114 in the direction of Judenburg (28 km, approx. 30 minutes).

We start at the parking lot of the ADEG store in Möderbrugg (1), 912 m. Over the wooden bridge we come to the leisure and landscape pond complex St. Oswald-Möderbrugg. Passing the pond facilities, we walk downstream along the asphalt sidewalk. We cross the road and follow the path that leads directly next to the Pöls river until we reach the 24-hour farm store Adelwöhrer. A look inside the store is definitely recommended. The hiking trail continues to the right on the gravel road, along the Pöls. Cross the bridge and head towards the main road or Hotel Restaurant Timmerer (2), 905 m. Arrived at the federal road, we keep to the right and follow the road for about 300 meters, before we turn left into a side road. We now follow the road for about 3 km through the Möderbach ditch. Arrived at a sharp right turn, we go uphill following the road and immediately see a large pasture gate on the right. Here we leave the road and hike comfortably uphill on forest roads - partly through pastures - for about 2 km. We reach a clearing (3), 1302 m, with a pond and a hut. Here we have reached our highest point. We continue on the forest road slightly downhill until we pass a gate shortly after the Straller hut. After a short while we come to the meadow areas around the Schneebergerhaus and the associated chapel. At the Schneeberger chapel (4), 1202 m, we take our time and enjoy the wonderful view. The hiking trail leads down into the valley via the access road, although there is also a steeper shortcut from the chapel to Möderbrugg. Both paths lead directly to the center and thus to our starting point.
In summer you can take your swimming gear with you and after the hike you can take advantage of the free recreational and landscape pond facility.
Möderbrugg is connected in the public transport network and can be reached by bus. (From Judenburg or Hohentauern about 30 minutes).
