Mugel hike from Niklasdorf
The Mugel is located in the heart of the Gleinalm Mountains at 1,630 m above sea level. A popular hiking and excursion destination is the Mugel Schutzhaus, which was completely rebuilt in 2010 and is open all year round. It is operated by the ÖTK section Leoben-Niklasdorf. The shelter is a long-distance hiking trail control point and has more than 50 beds for overnight stays. The physical well-being is also taken care of, warm meals are offered all day. The effort of the ascent is rewarded by magnificent views of the Mur, Mürz and Vordernberger valleys.

More information
Details on how to get to the summer parking lot can be found
here.
Starting from the Niklasdorfgraben, from the
Mugel winter parking lot it goes first along the forest road until you turn right after the hunting lodge on the trail. Of course, there is the option here to continue hiking along the forest road. The signposting is very good and you can't miss it. After a short time you will reach the alpine landscape around the Ochsenstall, where you can already see the transmitter of the Mugel. Passing this, the last short ascent to the Hans Prosl Schutzhaus takes place. Return along the same path.
Even in winter a hike on the Mugel is a beautiful experience!
