Apple trail (Apfelwanderweg)

Along the apple hiking trail there are seven information boards, which will bring you closer to the history & tradition of apples in Eastern Styria.
Hiking improves endurance and strengthens the musculoskeletal system. In addition, regular exercise has positive effects on physical as well as mental health.

The starting point of the hiking tour is the information office in the center of Bad Waltersdorf. The 10.8 km long hike revolves around the Styrian apple, its diversity as well as its history and tradition. The apple in culinary: Visit also the farms along the hiking trail and enjoy delicious, Styrian apple specialties.

At the beginning of the tour you will take some impressions of the center of the 2 thermal spa region Bad Waltersdorf. A visit to the Roman Stone Museum next to the parish church is recommended. Cross the main intersection - then turn right along Schulstraße past the outdoor pool. Then continue straight ahead over the railroad crossing to the Heiltherme. Before you reach the spa, you will pass beautiful orchards. At the Heiltherme the tour joins the so-called Thermenstraße and turns right onto Hinterfeldweg. Pass the Pieber and Thaler wine taverns. A forest path leads past Sauberg and then right downhill, over the railroad crossing, straight ahead to Leitersdorf. After the village inn Seiler-Ziegler turn right to Leitersdorfberg and back to Bad Waltersdorf. Before you finish the route you also pass the 18-hole golf course and can enjoy a beautiful view over the golf course as well as over the 2-thermal region.

14. uphill to Leitersdorfberg
15. together with W1 back to Bad Waltersdorf
