HWW-Hiking route: St. Lorenzen am Wechsel - Römerhütte - Dechantskirchen
This HWW hiking route is part of the Wechselland Historical Long-Distance Hiking Trail (HWW), which tells the story of Wechselland along more than 100 HWW stations. More information can be found at www.wechsel-wandern.at.
This HWW hiking route runs from St. Lorenzen via Römerhütte and Thalberg Castle to Dechanstkirchen. At the HWW station Burg Thalberg 2, you will learn about the religious significance of Thalberg Castle for Wechselland, as it was the center of Protestantism in Wechselland in the 16th century.

Arrival by car
- Take the A2 (south highway) until you reach the Pinggau exit.
- Leave the highway at the exit and turn left onto the B63 towards Pinggau.
- Follow the B63 and after approx. 3 km turn right onto the B54 towards St. Lorenzen am Wechsel. After about 5 km, turn right again into the village.
The tour is not signposted throughout. Route guidance with app recommended.
- The tour starts in St. Lorenzen.
- It continues via the Römerhütte leisure center and Thalberg Castle.
- The hike ends in the village of Dechantskirchen.
We recommend visiting the Römerhütte leisure center to play a round of mini golf or watch the animals.
