More information

Coming from Judenburg via Unzmarkt to Scheifling. Drive straight on until you reach Neumarkt. Turn left here and drive via Mühlen to the Tonnerhütte.

Coming from Tamsweg drive via Ranten (or Stadl an der Mur) to Murau. Turn right here and drive via Laßnitz, St. Lambrecht and Mariahof to Neumarkt. Turn left here and drive via Mühöen to the Tonnerhütte.

From the parking lot of the Tonnerhütte we follow the slightly ascending forest road to the 1st hairpin bend. Immediately from the hairpin bend, the footpath branches off to the right and turns towards the right edge of the ski slope. We follow the course of the ski slope uphill. Passing the top station of the lift, the path leads to the Hohe Hald and to the rock with the mark 1.800m.

About 20m above we branch off in the direction of Kulmer Hütte. We go uphill crossing to a channel at a stone wall and a boulder with a wooden cross, 1.940m. Keeping to the left, we go uphill until we reach the military road. Immediately after the left turn, path 315 branches off and leads us to the ridge at Lindersattel, 2.300.

We go via the Schreiber-steig from the Scharfen Eck to the SE into the Lindertal and via a block ridge to the Ochsenboden. Across treeless terrain, the 308/315 trail leads us to the "Großer Winterleitensee", 1.840m. We walk trough sparse stone pine forest and reach the Winterleitenhütte, 1.782m. From there we go to the eastern edge of the small Winterleiten lake. We follow the mark 32 on the "Dschungelway" through rustic alder terrain crossing until we reach after about 1/4 hour a beautiful Swiss stone pine forst.

Via the Sabathyalm we come to the Almrauschhütte and further to the Sabathyhütte, 1.620m.

Leave the Fuhrway to the right and follow the mark 316 through steeper terrain overgrown with the Tybian pines of the Pfaffenköpfel and further to the Lindersee, 2.015m. From here begins the actual summit climb, over treeless terrain, to the 2.396m.

We had S ober a moderately steep terrain to the Zirbitzkkogel shelter and on the summt of the Zirbitzkogel, 2.396m. The descent is via the shortest, marked path to the Tonnerhütte.
