A wonderful experience for body and soul.

Cross-country skiing

Cross-country skiing in the Murau region not only challenges the muscles but also puts the mind at ease. No less than 20 cross-country ski trails and a total of 170 kilometres of trails in the Murau region and on Kreischberg make this gentle winter sport particularly attractive. What’s more, no less than four cross-country trails in wintry Murau have been awarded the Styrian Cross-Country Ski Trail Seal of Quality.

An extensive network of trails for cross-country skiing enthusiasts

A winter sport that strengthens the upper body, torso and legs at the same time? That's what the Nordic discipline of cross-country skiing does. Especially in the Murau region, the gentle, almost meditative movement over the white glittering snow carpet enjoys great popularity.

By the way: Thanks to the snow-sure location, Nordic sports are possible in the Murau region as early as November. So nothing stands in the way of an early start to cross-country skiing fun in a picturesque landscape!

The most beautiful cross-country ski routes at a glance

At Weirerteich Cross-Country Skiing Centre, between Laßnitz and St. Lambrecht, at the stadium trail in Murau, on the village trail or on the high-altitude trail on Kreischberg: The region’s trail network is extensive and diverse.

Nature at its best: In addition to snow-sure and perfectly groomed trails, numerous natural cross-country skiing routes lead through the Murau region. The best part: They can be used free of charge and are especially suitable for beginners. The looped courses at St. Lorenzen golf course, near Stadl an der Mur, in Ranten or in Karchau/Zeutschach are particularly popular.
