Day 1: From the Tonnerhütte, the panoramic trail leads to the timberline and over a stone wall to the Zirbitzkogel summit cross. On the ridge towards Scharfes Eck, from which it continues to the Ochsenbodenhöhe. From there, continue uphill to the Kreiskogel. The descent is via the "Big Winterleitensee" and the "Winterleitenhütte". You continue through rustic alder terrain, through the Swiss pine forest to the Almrauschhütte to the Alpenhasthof Sabathy.

The 2 day tour, leads from the Tonnerhütte over hiking trails and paths with magnificent panoramic views past mountain lakes and rustic huts. The long-distance hiking trail wind between Styria and Carinthia through fascinating stone pine forests and over a world of flowers and herbs that already fascinated the Celts and Romans.

Coming from Judenburg via Unzmarkt to Scheifling. Drive straight on until you reach Neumarkt. In Neumarkt keep left in the direction of Mühlen. In Mühlen turn left and follow the road until you reach the Tonnerhütte.

Coming from Tamsweg via Ranten (or Stadl an der Mur) drive to Teufenbach. In Teufenbach keep right in the direction of Mariahof. In Mariahof continue to Neumarkt. In Neumarkt keep left in the direction of Mühlen. In Mühlen keep left along the road until you reach the Tonnerhütte.

First stage:

From the Tonnerhütte the "Big Zirbitzkogel Round" leads to the "Herter Höhe" arrived on the viewing platform beats her "herat higher" fascinated by the distant view to Karawanken, Triglav, Carnic Alps, Hohe Tauern, Niedere Tauern, Dachstein, etc.

From here you are above the tree line, follow the path, crossing the stone wall and following the ridge until you reach the Scharfes Eck (2.306m). Then the path leads over the Ochsenbodenhöhe and further uphill to the Kreiskogel (2.306m).

The descent is via the large Winterleiten lake to the Winterleitenhütte (1.782m). From here the trail leads along the "Dschungelway", trough rustic aler terrain and very old Swiss pine trees, to the Almrauschhütte and then to the destination of the first stage - Alpengasthof Sabathy.
